We had noticed Robert's restaurant after leaving Central Park. Ambience was great, but service could be improved.Īt the end of our trip, we've been searching for a rooftop spot to have lunch at. Quite the pricey meal, but we were both quite happy with our food. Loved it! We were also presented with petit fours which left much to be desired, but after having that dessert we didn't really care. We also ordered a scoop of the honeydew sorbet which was incredibly refreshing and not too sweet. This was different from anything we'd ever had, but we both enjoyed it very much. We got the strawberry ganache bar made with white chocolate and dulce de leche topped with meringue peaks and paired with a fresh mango sorbet. The serving sizes here for their mains are also quite substantial for what I was expecting. I loved everything about this dish and had no complaints. The inside of the red snapper was perfectly cooked and the outside was perfectly crispy. The clams were flavorful and large, though out of their shells. Loved the white polenta versus a mashed potato as the starch. I loved the touch of the actual lemon pieces on the fish and thought it added the perfect tanginess. The octopus came with 3 tentacles and was embraced by a chipotle and green sauce, both very delicious.įor my main, I got the red snapper with white polenta, clams, lemon, and bacon bits. The tuna was sliced very thinly with olives, among other tidbits, on top. To start our meal, we ordered the tuna carpaccio and octopus. A little bit pricey, but reasonable for the presentation and taste. Also definitely not the friendliest of waiters I've ever had. ![]() ![]() I had to ask the waiter to bring us bread when all the tables around us already got theirs. The service was a little lackluster from the beginning. The crowd on Sunday evening trended towards the 40s+ crowd. I was hoping to have one of those tables, but instead was seated in the middle of the dining room, which is fine since the ambience is still great. I saw tables open up that remained open for the rest of the night. The hostess told me that in order to score one of the coveted tables, reservations need to be made a month in advance (really?). Robert boasts sweeping views of Columbus Circle and Central Park, looking north. I had always assumed it was some fancy club or lounge, until one of my coworkers revealed that he was friends with the executive chef. Wishing you the best of everything.I've always seen Robert from down below at Columbus Circle, but never actually knew that it was a restaurant. John – it was lovely meeting you and Stacie. Oh, one touch that I liked about the party details – John is an avid photographer, and as presents to every guest, there were small gift-wrapped folios of his work. After the party, John and Stacie braved the cold night air, and we used the area around Columbus Circle as a backdrop for photos of them. Of course, with such an occasion, we had to take a few portraits of the couple. ![]() The photos tell that story! So much love and affection all around. The event immediately kicked into party mode when the elevator door opened with John and Stacie – John seemed overwhelmed seeing all his old friends and his family waiting for him there. It all blended so well with the décor of the venue. The event planner, Mechelle, and her team at Dazzle Occasions did an impressive job with the decorations and details. The vibrant interior of The Robert looks like a movie set from the 70’s or 80’s – bright colors and design.
